8. Shop Local. Not only are local stores more fun, they help to sustain vibrant, compact, walkable towns, an essential part of the effort to reduce sprawl, automobile use, natural habitat loss, and air and water pollution.
It all started with a dog - my beloved Sheltie named Empi. I have loved shopping for her, as well as Ella (a half adorable/half monster of a Russell Terrier) that my husband and I got in 2007, for years. But, my background also propelled me toward owning my own business... I graduated in 1997 with a B.S. in Psychology and in 1999 with an M.S. in Student Affairs in Higher Education. With skills in administration, human services and leadership, I went on to work full-time at several elite colleges and to serve as a freelance writer for higher education. I currently write from home for PaperClip Communications, a (fantastic!) company that specializes in providing quality educational materials for the higher education and K-12 sectors. The concept for Pause is simple: provide unique, quality products for discerning dog lovers and the pets who love them, all within a welcoming and dog-friendly atmosphere focused on creating a pleasant consumer experience. It's my way of giving back to all of the dogs that give so much to us.
